<abstract>
Objective: This study aimed to analyze the role of education and upbringing in reducing the value gap and enhancing the cultural perception of hijab among the new generation in the digital era in Lamerd County. The research was conducted using an exploratory mixed-methods (qualitative-quantitative) approach.
Methods: The study population consisted of 15 female teachers and principals from junior and senior high schools in Lamerd County, selected through purposive sampling. In the quantitative phase, data were collected using a questionnaire, while in the qualitative phase, data were gathered through seven semi-structured interview questions and analyzed using exploratory thematic analysis.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">
Results: The quantitative findings indicated that from the participants’ perspective, family and upbringing are the most critical factors in shaping cultural attitudes toward hijab, and media and cyberspace also exert a significant influence on altering the new generation’s attitudes and deepening the intergenerational value gap. Conversely, the effectiveness of formal education was not evaluated as optimal, indicating a gap between current educational methods and the cultural needs of the new generation. The qualitative data analysis led to the extraction of seven main themes: cultural and social transformations, the redefining role of cyberspace, rethinking the educational system, the family as the primary context for value transmission, effective education for the conscious acceptance of hijab, pathology of current cultural programs, and strategies to reduce the value gap.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">
Conclusions: The integrated findings demonstrated that enhancing the cultural perception of hijab requires synergy among the family, the educational system, and the media, as well as a transition from prescriptive education to dialogue-oriented, persuasive, participatory, and media literacy-based approaches.
</abstract>
